BYF CODE OF CONDUCT

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

While communications buzz back and forth, we all need to remember that

decorum and Netiquette hold these communications and each of us to a

certain level of appropriateness, and the BYF Constitution and By-Laws

hold us to the Due Process. The *BYF Code of Conduct* applies evenly to

everyone within BYF, whether it is ANY member of the Executive Committee

or a general member of BYF. ANYONE WHO BREACHES THE CODE FACES EQUAL

POSSIBILITY OF THE SAME PUNITIVE MEASURES, AS PRESCRIBED HEREIN.

1. In all written correspondence (postal mail or email), everyone must

adhere to the Code of Conduct.

2. At no time will profanity be allowed to be used on the listserver or

official BYF communications by either a Committee member or a BYF

general member, not just because of young members being on the

listserver, but also to maintain appropriate communications between

   people.

3. Please review/rethink the tone or attitude and the intent of your

communication. Sometimes those have clear and telling implications.

Yes, this is relatively subjective, but as an organization, at no time

can we allow harassing or disruptive behavior by anyone.

Violations of the Code of Conduct and Punitive Measures:

If the Code of Conduct is violated in part or entirety, the following process

will trigger:

1. If such communication is detected on the listserver from any person,

the Listserver Moderators will mediate the issue immediately. They may

also issue a warning, if necessary, to the responsible member(s).

2. If the warning goes unheeded or the magnitude of the infraction is

deemed severe enough, the Listserver Moderators will escalate the

matter to the Committee, which has the Constitutional responsibility

   and authority to act.

3. The Committee then will issue a second warning.

4. If the inappropriate communication is directed to the Executive

Committee, the Committee will issue the first and the second warnings.

5. If the inappropriate communication originates from somewhere other than

the Listserver, the Committee will issue the first and the second

   warnings.

6. If after the second warning, the inappropriate communications continue,

the Committee may impose the 30-day probationary suspension (as stated

in Article 11.1 of the Constitution) on the responsible member.

7. If the disturbance is further perpetuated, the responsible member will

face a second term of suspension, which will result in automatic

revocation of membership privileges, as stated in Article 11.2 of the

   Constitution.

For the sake of BYF's survival and prosperity, we must take the Code of

Conduct very seriously. Hopefully, this also clears up confusions, about

BYF administration and responsibilites of various parties. Please contact

the Vice President of BYF, Maimun Khan, at amarchaad@aol.com, should you have any

questions. Let's all work together for a better and more civil BYF.
